Welcome to Biomed Buddies
Biomed Buddies is a peer-mentorship program at UNT dedicated to supporting underrepresented students in biomedical engineering. Our mission is to bridge gaps in engineering by fostering diversity and inclusion while empowering the next generation of engineers.
We actively support various groups, including women in STEM, students of color, international students, LGBTQ students, financially disadvantaged students, first-generation students, students with disabilities, and veterans, just to name a few. By creating a welcoming and inclusive environment, we strive to ensure that every student has the opportunity to succeed and thrive in the biomedical engineering field.

About Us
At Biomed Buddies, we believe in the power of mentorship and the strength that diversity brings to the world of biomedical engineering. Our program is designed to create a sense of belonging, foster professional growth, and provide networking opportunities for students from underrepresented backgrounds in our Department. Through the guidance of experienced mentors, we aim to empower you to succeed in this dynamic and exciting field.
Mentorship
Our peer-mentoring program pairs students with experienced mentors who are also BMEN students and are committed to YOUR success. These mentors, having navigated similar paths, provide valuable guidance, advice, and support tailored to your unique needs and goals. We take care to match mentors and mentees based on shared values, backgrounds, academic tracks, and interests. Together, we work towards fostering a sense of belonging, professional growth, and networking opportunities within the biomedical engineering community.
